This Mother Means Business: Strategy, Advice, and Support for Mom Entrepreneurs

Mid-Year Real Talk + A New Chapter for This Mother Means Business

Laura Sinclair

We’re officially halfway through the year, and I’m coming in hot with a fresh new intro, a major update on the future of This Mother Means Business, and some behind-the-scenes real talk on what this year has actually looked like—business-wise and personally.

This episode is part catch-up, part celebration, part invitation. I’m pulling back the curtain on the evolution of this podcast and platform, the big shifts happening inside the membership, and the messy middle I’ve been navigating in both life and entrepreneurship.

Plus, I’m giving you the nudge to check in on your year so far—what you’ve done, what you haven’t, and what still deserves a spot on your calendar before 2025 is through.

IN THIS EPISODE, I SHARE:

  • Why This Mother Means Business is getting a whole new vibe (and why now)
  • What this brand has become—and why it’s so much more than a podcast
  • A behind-the-scenes look at my year so far (spoiler: it’s been... a lot)
  • How I’m redefining what this platform is—from “community” to growth accelerator
  • What’s changing inside the membership (and why you should get in now if you’ve been on the fence)
  • A personal challenge for you to reflect on your own mid-year wins, pivots, and promises

All right, I've been keeping some secrets from you behind the scenes and I'm so excited to share with you this brand new moment inside of this mother means business. Here it is.

Okay, how fun is that? I've been wanting to refresh this for a while. So consider this new season, new vibe, it's same message. This is for the entrepreneurial moms who are doing the damn thing. So let's catch up. It is halfway through the year. We've been recording our podcast for, oh my goodness, since February of 2023. And I have not given our show the refresh that it deserves. This mother means business when I first started the podcast was just the name for my podcast.

I never thought two and a half years ago when I started the show that this mother means business would become a brand, would become so much more than just a podcast. And I want to say just a podcast because I know how impactful this podcast has been for so many of you. just got a message earlier this morning from someone saying that they have been surviving their first year of motherhood and entrepreneurship on my podcast and a whole lot of coffee. And so I'm so grateful for

everybody who has ever listened to any episode of the show, who's left a review, has left me a DM, sent me a DM, shared it with a friend, put it on your Instagram stories. Truly, truly, I am so grateful for the community that we've built. But this Mother Means Business was just the name of the show. And now this Mother Means Business is a growth accelerator for entrepreneurial moms. It is a community. It is an event.

We have a retreat. There's just so much more than the podcast itself. And so I wanted to just honor that, honor everything that we've built together with a refresh. And the old one didn't feel out of date necessarily, but gosh, when we think about how much we change as people, as entrepreneurs, I'm not the same person that I was two and a half years ago when I started this show. And it feels like this new intro just better reflects.

Laura Sinclair (02:10.862)
who we are and what we're doing and where we're headed. And hopefully we'll bring in some more incredible women into our world. But this time of year is, I always joke, my favorite time of year because June is that halfway point through the year. We are almost at the time of this episode dropping halfway through 2025. And it's a time where we get to be reflective. My joke is that this is the time of year where I like to rip my business apart and put it back together. And my goodness, my friends, I am doing just that.

But I wanted to just get real with you to share a little bit about what's happening behind the scenes, the good, the gritty, the growth, and just kind of like tell you where I'm at. Obviously, 2025 has been an easier year than 2024 because I have not broken a bone this year. Knock on wood, I'm not going to do that because my podcast editor won't like it and you won't like the sound of it in your ears. But this year has already felt so much lighter than 2024 did on the account of no broken bones. That said, 2025 has brought

a whole lot of other challenges in the form of dealing with one of my parents had a major medical emergency. Actually, both of my parents dealt with medical emergencies in the early part of this year. One of them has a very long road to recovery ahead of them. is for all intents and purposes fine. And I realized that I'm not being super specific on which parent I'm talking about mostly because

I try to be really thoughtful and considerate of some of these things are not my story to tell. But I did have to go through the process of medically repatriating one of my parents back to Canada from Florida, which was incredibly expensive, incredibly difficult and incredibly stressful. And so I've been navigating, you know, the usual stuff, motherhood, entrepreneurship, but also now I have an elderly parent that requires a significant amount of support and I'm navigating a lot of new things. And so while

I'm not dealing with any broken bones. are a lot of health things that have come up this year for my extended family and I've found myself wearing yet again more new roles. And so certainly always going to be things that happen in life that are not as planned. And I think it's important for me to just be honest about those things. And while I don't feel like those things have necessarily shifted too much about my business,

Laura Sinclair (04:31.15)
it has pulled some of my attention in directions that maybe aren't the ones that I would choose to put my direction if I had a choice. And so if you're in a season where you know what you found yourself having to focus on some things that maybe aren't business related or your immediate family related, know that I'm with you and know that you're not alone. And so this year when I headed into 2024, I knew I was heading into it with

a pretty clear vision and a pretty clear direction for my business. I've been kind of trying to figure out what this mother means business was going to be. The online space is continuing to shift. Mentorship is continuing to shift. And I'm really proud of the ways that I've shifted my business in alignment with that. think the way that the online coaching space is shifting is becoming more in alignment with the way that I want to show up in the business that I want to build. So that feels really great. And then heading into

this year with a pretty clear plan of how I was going to build this mother means business. It hasn't all gone to plan exactly. There have been a few hiccups, a few distractions, but for the most part, I'm just really excited about the direction we're heading. I treated January 2025 as like day month one for this mother means business. So we had our first event this year. It was amazing. I can't wait to do it again in 2026. We are

continuing to build this mother means business, the women that are inside of it are incredible. And right now, as we speak, as I record this, I am ripping it all apart and putting it back together in the best way. And so if you're a member inside of this mother means business, right now you're going to be so happy that you are. And if you're not a member yet, you're going to want to become one. I'm going to tell you why. I'm not going to give it all away because I don't want to spoil all of my thunder, but I do want you to know that we are shifting from being a community

first to a growth accelerator first. It doesn't mean that I'm taking away the community elements. All those are going to stay. But this mother means business is going to become the place to be. If you are a mom in business wanting to make more income and to do so without sacrificing your life, it is truly going to become a growth accelerator for moms in business as much as it is a community. And so yes, you're going to come and find your people, but you are also going to get real

Laura Sinclair (06:48.846)
tangible tools and support in your business and more support from me. That's all I'm gonna say because if I say too much I'm gonna spoil it. But I will tell you right now in this particular moment the investment for this mother means business is $67 a month and I have removed the waitlist. There's no waitlist on right now. Simply because this is going to change so drastically the changes are going to be so drastic that the investment has to more than double and

When I tell you that you want to join now, join now, I'm going to honor my intention is to continue to honor whether you came in as a founder for this mother means business or you came in at $67. My intention is to honor that investment until the end of time. Once the price changes, once I launch everything that's happening inside of this mother means business, these new changes, then that price will be gone forever. And so if you've been considering joining the community now really, really is the time to do it.

I've also made some shifts in my business in terms of how I'm treating this mother means business. And my last corporate job was in sponsorship. And I had never considered that corporate sponsor corporations would want to sponsor the work that I'm doing inside of this mother means business. And that's something that I'm really starting to lean into and starting to pursue. So I've been building relationships behind the scenes with folks that are in corporate sponsorship roles, which feels like a real full circle moment for me in my career.

because I'm reconnecting with folks that I loved and worked with in the corporate world before I left to start my cross-medium. And so that's been a really fun full circle space. And I can't wait to share more with you about what I've learned about sponsorship, getting sponsorship, partnering with corporations, because I know there's gonna be so much there. As far as shifts that I've made in my business this year, I think it's been pretty status quo. haven't...

changed too much. There's going to be some exciting stuff coming out in the back half of this year that I've really been working on behind the scenes. So as far as what's gone really well, I can't wait for my 2025, sorry, recap episode because I know you all love that episode so much at the end of December. I'm going to have so much more juice for you, but I promise you the juice will be worth the squeeze and we'll get there together. can't wait to share that one.

Laura Sinclair (09:06.51)
There's a couple of things that haven't gone to plan so far this year. Obviously what's been happening with my family has been really hard. But then also I've come into a lot of hurdles with the retreat and not because I didn't love it. I'm going to back up and talk about that differently. I've had to face some new hurdles with things like the retreat and trying to bring in following protocols with Tico and I'll have more to share on this later, but I've.

I've come up against more hurdles and things that I didn't expect this year that I'm grateful for because I know long-term it'll set me up better, but there's definitely been some processes and hurdles and things like that that I've struggled with. So all in all, all that to say, I have never been more excited about what's happening with this mother means business. I also know that great things take time. And so I'm considering this year one. We're six months into this project that is building this mother means business. And while

the platform and the podcasts have been around for a while. I'm really treating 2025 as year one of this project. And I can't wait to share with you where we end up at the end of the year, but I'm just proud of where you are. And so because we're halfway through the year, I wanted to make an invitation for you to sort of reflect upon how your year has gone so far. know, what has gone really well, what hasn't gone well? What have you left on the table?

What's the thing that you said that you were gonna do that you haven't done yet? Let me say that again. What is the thing you said you were going to do that you haven't done yet? And I hope that you do it. And you don't have do it right now. I know summer's coming up, but I hope that you put it on your calendar. I hope that you make it part of what you promised. I hope that it's something that you continue to hold yourself accountable for. And if you need accountability, listen, you know where to find me.

One of the things that I would love it if you would do for me is for you to, I mean, if you're not doing so yet, subscribe, leave a review of the show, but I would love for you to DM me with your own mid-year wins or pivots. I wanna know what are you celebrating so far this year? What is the thing that you said that you were gonna do that you haven't done yet? Send me a message. I wanna know about it. And if you are feeling like you're gonna take action, you're ready to make the shift, celebrate with me, okay? I'm just so grateful for you for being here, truly, truly.

Laura Sinclair (11:26.478)
Thank you for being in here in this season. If you've been listening to the show since day one, I can't believe that you're still here. And if you are new to the show, thank you for finding us and being a part of this. It means the world to me when you send me a message, you let me know how much you love the show. It means the world to me when you share it and for being in this season. And let's keep building businesses that support our lives and not consume them, shall we? All right. I'm so grateful for you. We'll get back to our regular schedule programming next Monday, but I want to just drop in with this big news.

And also, if you could let me know what you think about the new intro and outro, that would mean the world to me too. We'll talk soon.
